One La Salle Radio
One La Salle Radio is an internet radio service provided by De La Salle Philippines (DLSP). The aim of this service is to promote student and alumni musical works by streaming them live through the internet. Anyone, including guests, can register, create their profile and upload their original songs through the portal – similar to the concept of YouTube.
This service, formerly a project of NCORE (a group under LSCS), was realized by a group of students believing in promoting their fellow student bands and other musical enthusiasts in DLSU. NCORE completed the project late January 2007 and the service is only accessible within the DLSU network. As a result, the service did not gain much attention due to this; therefore, the group decided to have this elevated to a level that DLSU Community can support it.
Around Mid-February, the group was able to get a project from DLSP which they immediately proposed the service to be part of the project. Eventually, the service was warmly accepted simply because the aim of this service fully aligns with the goals of the DLSP project. Due to this, the NCORE office was temporarily considered as the Data Center for the DLSP project on March 26, 2007. With the endorsement of DLSP, ITC immediately provided the IP address for public access and the domain names were provided by DLSP. Then the service became available to the public as of April 3, 2007.
With the integration of the service to the DLSP project, the portal has to undergo some revisions and stress tests – maximizing the capability of the servers. The service should be fully functional on June 22, 2007 – the date where the DLSP project should also be complete.
